Plus proche de chez Earache il semble....
Lisez ce que John Tardy a déclaré en interview cette semaine :
KP: Can you give us an update on the new material: album and all the song titles, producer, record label, etc.?
JT: We don’t have all that yet. Once again we will be producing the album, that’s for sure. And obviously, we are way too early in the writing process to discuss any album or song titles. Those things always change all the way up until the end. We have five songs that are pretty much done right now. Trevor (guitar) will be in town tomorrow so we can continue writing. Alan from Earache Records stopped by on Friday. Frank (bassist) has talked to the guys over at Nuclear Blast, who also expressed interest in working with us. And there are a handful of other labels also. We’re gonna talk to everybody and see what will be the best for us.
KP: Are you confident the new album will be released in 2007?
JT: We are shooting to get into the studio in March ’07. Earache Records was telling us they would need a minimum of three months to release it (after recording). So if everything goes according to schedule that would be a rough estimate. Hopefully in 2007 we’ll have something done.
KP: The incident with Roadrunner Records hasn’t scared you off record labels completely then?
JT: It’s just depressing to think about the way they treated us, to be honest with you. We just go about our business, do what we do and that’s about it. We never called them and screamed at them. We tried to tell them before Frozen in Time, if you don’t want to do it, then don’t. They said “yeah yeah of course we want to do it, we’ll push it, blah, blah, blah”. Next thing you know, they did nothing at all with the record. But whatever, it’s over and done with, thank god for that. We’re ready to move on.
KP: Any worries about Earache Records. A lot of bands seemed to have gripes about them over the past few years?
JT: The conversation we’ve had on the phone and when they came here to talk to us, they’ve been eager to work with Obituary. They seem to be pretty certain they would make us happy. Glen Benton (Deicide) just signed with them and I’ve seen quite a bit of talk/promotion about Deicide’s new record. When we talked with Glen while in Mexico, he seemed to be pretty happy with them. And that’s really what I’m basing it on. If Earache is the label we decide to go with, that’s pretty much what I’m going on. Hanging out with Glen, talking to him. We had a great time in Mexico at the Monterrey Metal Fest and he was just really really happy with the way they were treating him and what they are doing for him.
