|
|
According to a posting at the Polish music web site CGM.pl, former VADER drummer Krzysztof "Docent" Raczkowski (a.k.a. Doc) has passed away at age 35. No further details about his death are currently available.
In a March 2005 statement announcing Doc's departure from the group, VADER frontman Peter said, "Doc pretty hard tried to 'fight' against his weaknesses, which were troubles for all of us. Finaly he had not prevailed over that battle... All in all, he attempted. . . VADER today is not just a friendship anymore — it's our life with armies of man involved in music, releases and — first of all — fans waiting for shows or new albums... This is a high responsibility, not too many know about. If a person, even the most talented one, cannot stand it — has to leave... That was Doc's decision as well."
In an April 2005 interview with AbrasiveRock.com, VADER guitarist Mauser elaborated on Doc's "weaknesses," stating, "He had a problem with alcohol and this is the problem. Maybe in the future, if he will be alright, he may be back in the band. Maybe someday. We will see what happens."
RIP Doc... _________________ Metal: those who don't cannot understand. |

Tony Laureano (VILE, DIMMU BORGIR, ANGELCORPSE)
"Today I woke up to hear that former VADER drummer Doc had passed away. It was quite shocking, to say the least, and totally unexpected. It is a very sad thing that has happened. Doc was a really nice guy, and a phenomenal drummer. He was a wonderful character whom I had the pleasure of sharing several tours with, including my very first one almost 10 years ago. I was a total rookie who showed up for a European tour with the absolute bare minimum, but even though I had just met him, he loaned me quite a bit of his personal gear without a second thought. And that is the type of guy he was, if he could help you in any way, he would gladly do so.
"Over time, I began to hear about some personal problems he was having, and I always hoped that he would perservere. I last saw him in October of 2003 when we were once again touring together. While he physically displayed signs of some personal struggle, he was in high spirits, and honestly trying to better himself. He told me about his impending fatherhood, and how he was looking foward to a new chapter in life. At the end of that tour, I didn't get a chance to say goodbye, but I always figured I would catch up with him at some other point as had always been the case. I would have never though that it would be the last time I would ever see him.
"I feel very sad about his untimely death and I would like to send my condolences to his family, his friends, and his bandmates. The metal world has lost an incredible percussive force and a wonderful soul. Rest in peace, brother."
Jeremy Wagner (guitariste de BROKEN HOPE / LUPARA) :
"Bummed out to hear about Doc passing away...especially at such an age as 35 (my age).
"The last time I saw Doc was at the Vic Theater in Chicago in October of 2003 when they were out with KREATOR and NILE... He was in great spirits and VADER put on an amazing set as always.
"VADER supported BROKEN HOPE when first headlined a tour of the United States and Doc gave our old drummer Ryan [Stanek] a run for his money every night. Aside from being an awesome musician, Doc always struck me as as a soft-spoken and cool guy to talk with.
"Shaun Glass [ex-BROKEN HOPE bassist, current SOIL guitarist] joined VADER on stage with some MONSTROSITY guys to do a CELTIC FROST cover as an encore at a few of the shows. It was cool to see Shaun banging out with Doc on stage.
"I told Shaun the news yesterday and he didn't believe me and thought it was quite sad. Shaun said that Doc was 'one of the best death metal drummers ever.' I agree.
"R.I.P., Doc."
Anders Jakobson (batteur de NASUM) :
"I just learned that ex-VADER drummer Doc passed away at age 35. Now, I wasn't really a huge VADER fan — I mean I liked their music but I didn't listen to them much. But I can safely say that Doc was a kick-ass drummer and it saddens me that he died so young.
"No details why and how he died but as most of you know he left the band due to drinking problems so I guess the death is drug related in some way.
"At least Mieszko [Talarczyk, NASUM guitarist/vocalist, victim of the Southeast Asian tsunami] now got a killer drummer to start grinding in heaven with! I imagine they would create some killer stuff up there!
"I also have to say that I was this close to another personal tragedy the other day as my friends in THE ACCIDENTS (staring ex-NASUM drummer Rickard and ex-NECRONY guitarist Dan Wall, among others) slid of the autobahn and got into a ditch mangling some trees on the way. There were eight people in the van and at least five of them are my friends and apart for some cuts and bruises and a broken (?) muscle they are all well. The police apparently reported that if they had crashed into a bigger tree some of them would most likely have died.
"I don't want more funerals this year and I am so glad that THE ACCIDENTS survived their accident (their band name gets a new meaning now for sure) and are back in Örebro already." _________________ NOISEWEB 'zine - www.noise-web.com

Communiqué sur le site de VADER...
Last time goodbye...
24.08.2005. This day we said last time goodbye to our friend and great musician- Krzysztof "Docent" Raczkowski. The funeral took place in his hometown Korsze near Olsztyn. We accompanied him on his last journey with great sadness, pain and sorrow flowing from our hearts. After the tragedy we've realized how precious gift life is. Especially now, when we should assume some responsibility for his premature death, shouldn't we?... Doc- you will stay forever in our hearts, thoughts and acts.

Un dernier au revoir...
Dingue... _________________ NOISEWEB 'zine - www.noise-web.com
